Vesevo - Falanghina, Campania
Perhaps Italy’s greatest strength is the amazing quality and individuality that can be found in its numerous indigenous grape varieties. Falanghina is still relatively unknown in this country, but can offer amazing quality. The producer’s name is a reference to their proximity to Mount Vesuvius, where the volcanic soil gives their wines amazing minerality, and cooling sea breezes blowing in from the Bay of Naples ensures the wines retain their freshness. Crisp, fresh lemon and peach notes are prevalent, with a New Zealand-style cold fermentation retaining beautiful aromatics of white flowers. Lees ageing adds texture as well as subtle freshly baked pastry in the finish. Enjoy with seafood or grilled chicken.
